Wowwee, The Nevada DMV online services website is final back up and I was able to renew the registration on my utility trailer. The website has been down for two weeks! (And their offices have been closed as well. I can only image the mess.) What happened was they got hit with a ransomware attack. Clearly, the personal need better training in that regard, but I also wonder if they could have avoided the attack by running Linux instead of Windows?

@elaterite Not likely, it's often about bad hygiene rather than particular OS. You can get hit with ransomware on poorly maintained Linux, and properly secured and maintained Windows can serve you well. Depends on who you are dealing with on the other side. Proper security operations can help with prevention of ransomware and often you don't need a huge budget to buy flashy tools, but you would replace that with labor.
